Taiji and Qigong have been used for centuries as gentle, soothing, enjoyable exercises to increase circulation, enhance balance and concentration, and gently tone the body for health and well-being. We will do Qigong exercises developed for optimum health, as well as Taiji form. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. The instructor has been practicing and teaching this art for over 35 years. 34. YOGA FIT
Using yoga exercises, we strengthen and tone the body, enhance flexibility in the joints, improve balance and focus, reduce stress and improve circulation and concentration. Please bring a mat or blanket to class and wear comfortable, non-binding clothes. As with any exercise program, check first with your doctor, especially if there is any history of untreated high blood pressure, eye complications from disease, or other health concerns. 35. EXPLORING WATERCOLORS
This is an introductory/refresher course in painting with transparent watercolor, for beginners and experienced painters, using demonstrations, discussion of color theory/light value, and exercises to develop basic brush techniques to control this exquisite, fluid medium. 36. FILMS FOR THE WISDOM JOURNEY
Many films are for the purpose of entertaining alone; however, often even those films have layers of meaning. We will enter the movie experience with open minds and receptive hearts. You will receive handouts with pointers to guide you for each movie. Afterwards we will mine for nuggets of understanding ourselves, others and the world. Possible films include Get Low, She’s Gone Away, The Legend of Bagger Vance, An Unfinished Life, Strangers in Good Company, and Two Weeks. A $5 to $8 donation is suggested to cover copying and refreshments. Limit 18.

37. DROUGHT-RESISTANT GARDENING
Even the most avid gardeners had a tough season this year. Learn to use native plants to create beauty in your yard, incorporate xeriscaping, grow herbs, or use containers to grow plants. Enjoy nature’s bounty while being conscious of our need to conserve water. Even apartment dwellers can have something growing to care for. The course will include a field trip. The instructor is a Master Gardener, retired teacher and member of the Austin Herb Society.
