29. More Comedies from Hollywood’s Golden Age

  • Westminster Presbyterian Church, Room 10 3208 Exposition Boulevard Austin, TX, 78703 (map)

Slapstick, screwball, and romantic are among the stories in this lineup of films made in the 1930s and 1940s. This was during an era when film studios reigned supreme, the star system brought in fans, and the focus was on storytelling, clear narrative, and character development. Among those featured are Ginger Rogers, Cary Grant, Claudette Colbert and brilliant directors such as Preston Sturges. All films are from my personal collection; none were previously shown in a class. Correct email address is important as students receive emails at least once a week with film background and other film-related news. Limit 35.
